The American Liberty League was launched on August 22, 1934. The League's board of directors included Irénée du Pont, Pierre du Pont, John Raskob, and Jouett Shouse. Politician. Shouse was born in Midway, Ky. December 10, 1879, the son of the Reverend Samuel Shouse. He was on the staff of the Lexington HERALD from 1898-1904. In 1911, he went to Kansas, where he was married. Elected to Congress from the 7th Kansas District in 1915, Shouse served in the 64th and 65th Congresses.
